Chalet Jungwald
- Saas Fee

"We enjoyed a most beautiful stay in Saas Fee

An outstanding holiday in every way

The sun shone bright, harmonised by a pleasurable breeze,

Pretty flowers enhanced the scenery, accompanied by majestic trees.

Elegant chalets along the mysterious walkways

An orchestra of bells ringing whilst the cows graze.

Friendly neighbours, efficient shops and helpful tourist advice,

Made our stay in Saas Fee – just so nice!

Still – the cherry on the pie of which we’re proud

Is our stay here in Haus Jungwald

We felt so welcomed here, so comfortable, so fit,

Immaculately clean, tastefully finished, everything just “it”.

A warm and inviting house with enough space to roam,

It was the place we called “Home”

Thank-you for the most wonderful experience of staying in Haus Jungwald – we hope to be back soon again.

Family Leitner - Manchester, England - August 2011

"Have had a great week in Saas Fee. First time to the Alps in the summer and will definitely come back again. Kids have absolutely loved the toboggan (top speed 29.35 kmph but who’s counting?). Have had some wonderful walks and spent a lot of time admiring the views.

If anybody has young kids and I really recommend

- Toboggan rides – 10 on the “thrill chart”

- Feeding marmots – very cute and tame – take carrots!

- Scooter rides in Saas Almagell – easy ride

- Kreuzboden playpark and waterpath – lots of fun

- Walk down Hannig via Fairytale walk – long enough for our youngest (5)

Overall a great week and weather was kind to us. Thank you Dominique for your hospitality. The chalet was perfect."

Family Showell - Amsterdam, The Netherlands - August 2011

"We enjoyed the time in Saas Fee and Chalet Jungwald again this summer. Time seems to be nothing here – everything is still like we had in our memory (except the interesting photographs everywhere). It isn’t easy getting here on the last metres but the view from the balcony is still beautiful. The whole chalet is also very well equipped and comfortable. We missed nothing except of a teapot (now replaced - Dominique). It’s really not easy to pack our bags and leave Saas Fee and we hope to come back next year.

Thank you for this wonderful time here in Switzerland!"

Christian, Kerstin, Dorothea and Johanna Keller - Berlin, Germany - July 2011

"We had a wonderful week here in Saas Fee. The chalet was ideal for a family of 6.

The unexpected snow on 1st June was a bonus. The children were delighted to wake and find snow on the ground. The snowfall continued all day. Before the arrival of snow we enjoyed a scooter ride down the mountain. The steep hill to get to the chalet was a little challenging for our mother although by the end of the week she was putting us to shame. Her yoga practice on the last day was amazing. Thank you for a lovely stay."

The Hollands - Manchester, UK -  May 2011

"We  were lucky to have beautiful weather and very much enjoyed the spacious and clean chalet with its stunning views. Have done lots of day trips. Went to Zermatt up the Gornergracht railway. Even the Lago Maggiore, Italy is relatively close by.

Thank you and best regards"

Family Bethlehem - Amsterdam, The Netherlands - May 2011

"Thank-you for this wonderful week! We absolutely loved the view from the balcony; altogether we have spent many hours in your perfect kitchen and the beautiful sitting room. Like a dream we have very much enjoyed our stay in your comfortable Chalet and the lovely village of Saas Fee. Hoping to come back."

Family Rützel - Germany - April 2011

"We had a wonderful time in your nice chalet. In particular we gratefully appreciated your excellently equipped kitchen that my brother in law used every night. Unfortunately the nursery lift closed on Wednesday already because of big lack of snow due to high temperatures in the valley. Not only your chalet but also the ski resort was really wonderful. Therefore we are looking forward to coming back to Saas Fee but this time earlier in the year."

"We’ll come back ……. once again."

Petit, Eeman, Wouters, Claessens - Antwerp, Belgium - March 2011

"We can’t think of superlatives to add! The chalet is everything you promised it to be … and more. The Swiss Ski School looked after our 5 – 3 year old grandchildren very well.

You can expect our booking for 2012 soon."

"Chalet Jungwald is a wonderful place to stay in Saas Fee. It is in a quiet location on top of a hill, but very close to the nursery slopes and just a short walk down to the shops and restaurants in town. The walk back up to the chalet gives you a good work-out but our children ages 6 and 9 managed it without any problems and the views are certainly worth it. My father in law who is 71 didn't have any problems but if you're older and not in good shape it may be somewhat challenging, but for us it was perfect.

The Chalet was immaculate when we arrived and all the furnishings and appliances are top notch. The beds are very comfortable and it was great having a bathroom for each bedroom. We felt at home right away and it was wonderful to have such a nice place to come back to after a day of skiing. There was plenty of room for the 5 of us and it was simply comfortable and clean.

Dominique was prompt and responsive and she provided a very thorough welcome packet which we found useful. The restaurant suggestions were great and we particularly enjoyed the Shaferstuble which is just a stone's throw from the chalet. We would definitely recommend this place and look forward to returning in the future."

"One week of brilliant sunshine and hardly a breath of wind. Snow held up well higher up but a top-up is now required.

Beautifully appointed and situated chalet. The hike up from the church is only 10 minutes but it is a hard 10 minutes; one foot in front of the other. The path is indeed very prone to ice especially when  the sun goes down. Half our party slipped . The chalet also lacks a fondue set (not any more- a new one has been provided – Dominique) - you can rent one from the fromagerie for 10 ChF. This was only a small annoyance and didn’t overly detract from a wonderful week.

Tip – rent gear at a shop next to the lift not Derby like they recommend which is inconveniently situated in the centre of the village (best if you´re carying skis back to the chalet otherwise Caesar Sport by the Alpin Express is indeed more convenient - Dominique).

Have a wonderful stay."

Stewarts - UK - March 2011

"A gorgeous chalet, meticulously clean and with very modern equipment. Lovely setting, above the village, with great views to the moutains and village below. A short walk up and down to the village for the fit, a little bit of a trek for the elderly (especially if pushing a buggy or towing a toddler on sledge as granny was), and if you are lucky enough to have fresh snow overnight four nights out of six as we were - meaning fantastic skiing but a slippery road. The chalet is virtually ski-to-door (out and back) and we even managed to ski back from the nursery slopes with our four year old beginner on the drag lift with us.

Thoroughly recommend Eskimos Ski School (used by our four year old and his friend and siblings). Groups limited to five, which really helps and, I believe, is smaller than Swiss Ski School.

The restaurant close to the chalet, on the road is great. Delicious food and lovely views. Can be skied to.

Swimming pool is fun for littles - has a slide in the baby pool and lots of jets and water-falls in the main pool.

We were there for carnival week which was fun, with bands, fire-works and lots of fancy dress.

If you have a two year old who can't yet ski and needs entertaining, we recommend the Imseng Bakery, Tuesday 10am for bread making, which she loved. Or the pool. Or the (free) little red train through the village. Or sledging.

The 6km toboggan run from the top of Hannig is very exciting but beware if icy. Very fast and hard to stop - particularly if you have your small children with you!

Very pleased indeed with the wonderful chalet. Spacious, airy, great views and offering everything we could have asked for. Would definitely recommend to anyone."

"Liaisons with the owner prior to our stay were very useful and helpful with making our stay a success - especially the last minute snow report! thank you.

The property was very clean and comfortable, everything appeared new and it felt like we were the first people to stay in the Chalet.

Beautiful spot and glorious views. Would not hesitate to go back.

"We were very pleased that our chalet was as described and exceeded our expectations. Coming from the US we were looking for a little bit more roomy accomodations as European standards are ususally much smaller. We felt that Jungwald was spaciaous, clean, ski-in/out, modern and very well equipped, we felt at home in this chalet. We appreciated great communication with the owners in advance via e-mail and onsite with the folder they created and have for guests (very useful). We would highly recommend to others. We had a lovely vacation.

"We hope to get back one day.....

This little village and this wonderful chalet has been an amazing find for us. The village is beautiful and just what we were looking for. We have and usually ski in Japan and have skied in Whistler. This year we wanted to show the children (Gabriela 12 and Benjamin (Benny) 9) another part of the world to ski in. They loved everything, tottally different scenery from what they have skied before.

Chalet - what more can we say, wonderful, nice to see a modern interior and so very clean.

The only problem, I am asthmatic and the hillwalk up nearly killed me! But I got used to it.

Not much snowing for us this week - what a shame. That would have been nice but Mother Nature didn't put on the snow for us. Unfortunately mother nature put on a rather devastating flood back in Australia - our home town of Brisbane so after next week we'll be heading back to a city in the middle of a muddy clean-up. Our house was not a problem so we were lucky.

Thank-you for letting us use your wonderful chalet - it was everything we needed."

"We have just had a wonderful week in Saas Fee, staying at Chalet Jungwald. It is a well-equipped, impeccably clean chalet with beautiful views across the valley. Our four children aged from 6 to 13 all loved the holiday, with ski lessons every morning followed by more skiing in the afternoon or relaxing in the chalet. It was a huge advantage to be able to walk out of the chalet, put skis on and ski down to the ski school in the mornings. The apartment had lots of room for our big family, and the DVD players in the bedrooms (and Wifi!) were great for the older girls. There is a really good restaurant almost next door, with lovely food and friendly staff. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

"We spent New year at Chalet Junwald and had a wonderful time. The chalet was fantastic and the views are breathtaking. We tried the Optimum Ski School and were extremely impressed with them so much so that our six year old daughter refused to take her ski boots and helmut off after we had finished skiing for the day. Although the Chalet is at the top of a hill it was great fun sledging down to town with our three children cheering all the way. Definitely coming back next year as so much still to do and see and not enough time to do it all. Thank you for a great winter holiday."

Stefan - London, UK - January 2011

"We were lucky enough to rent this property over the Xmas period and it exceeded all our expectations - the quality of the furnishings is first class and you certainly feel you are a guest in Dominique's home rather than renting a holiday chalet. To know you are coming back to such a lovely property after a day's skiing makes it all the more appealing - so much so that we were happy to cater for ourselves a few nights rather than go out again into the town. However, the other bonus is the wonderful Schaefferstube restaurant a couple of minutes away - fabulous food and lovely friendly staff. The views from the chalet are stunning and whilst there is quite a steep hill to climb from the village, this is well worth it for the wonderful views from the chalet. The help and guidance received from Dominique prior to our arrival was excellent and she has a wealth of knowledge about the area and is happy to share this with her guests. We would certainly like to return and we are sure it is as stunning in Summer as it is in Winter. For us, it was certainly a Christmas to remember and thank you for the lovely Xmas decorations you had put up for us!"

"Chalet Jungwald exceeds all our expectations. We enjoyed the great views from the balcony and the bathroom with the roof windows. The apartment is very well located in a quiet area of the village. There was nothing that we missed during our stay.

We have done a lot of walking-tours starting from Hanning, Plattjen or Spielboden down to Saas-Fee and we enjoyed the unique landscape here.

Thank you for the opportunity to live here for two weeks and for your constant support – we had a fantastic time. Hopefully we can come back next year. "

besuchen."

"Our party consisted of 3 adults and 3 young children aged 5 months, 4 and 8 years old. Our expectations were exceeded. The apartment is modern, luxurious, relaxing and homely and provided in a very good condition - new, clean and very well equipped. It truly felt as though we had stepped into someone's home rather than into a holiday rental. The design of the apartment is well-thought out. We liked having two bedrooms adjacent and a third located on a different floor, as it gave us flexibility to prevent young early risers from waking the non-skier and baby. It gave us lots of comfort and personal space which was what we needed given the age range of our group and our many evenings in. The TV/DVDs in bedrooms we didn't use but would next time if we could get ourselves organised, get the children in bed early enough and not be physically exhausted ourselves! The best thing about the place though is the location and the view from the living area - it really is special. Another wow is the view from the bathroom skylights in the second bedroom - stunning sunny blue sky and gleaming white peaks. Jacuzzi in main bathroom was also a treat. The photos on this site do not really fully convey how lovely the property and the views are. The sun streams onto the balcony and the breakfast table in the morning. The view to the right of the kitchen is of a pretty woodland and what my 4 year old son called his secret pathway. My mum loved the seclusion and privacy of the 'out of village' location but also found access a bit of a shock to the system, especially with a pushchair and skis. However the walk is short, 5-10 minutes is accurate and once we'd hired a ski locker by the meeting point for my and the children's skis not a problem, and anyway none of us would have swapped the elevation and views for a lazier life! The property is ski in and ski out and it's a nice wide blue run (Staflewald piste). We almost fully skied in and out to the door in mid-April and skiing at Langfluh and Morenia was great all day. Next time we'll go a bit earlier to have great snow at below 2,000 late into the afternoon. We found the owners accessible, kind and generous. They allowed us to stay on a couple of days when we were delayed due to the volcanic ash. Saas Fee is a compact and pretty family-friendly village. We can recommend Eskimos Ski School (the children loved attending). You will be pleased if you choose this apartment. We had a great week and will return."

Jennifer - London, UK - April 2010

"This apartment is really fantastic : very well located for skiers ; equipment of high quality ; stunning view on mountains. We'll surely come back and we highly recommend this property."

Cathy - Lyon, France - February 2010

"We enjoyed a wonderful week with powder snow we just do not see in Australia.

The views are wonderous from the balcony but it is s genuine walk-up from the village – I may even have lost some weight.

Skiing was excellent and those skiers amongst us have all enjoyed the conditions.

The village has mixed après-ski venues available – we tried them all, even avant-ski – and you should just follow your nose to try and determine what best suits you.

The apartment is excellent and the ice hockey below the flat was excellent sport for us spectators."

John - Australia - January 2010

"Very comfortable chalet with stunning views. Newly equipped, spotless and spacious. Owners provided lots of information which made it easy to find our way round. Access to skiing was easy and chalet location was perfect for hill walking. Saas Fee is a lovely village and ski area particularly for families. Highly recommended. "

"Staying here has been as smooth and serene as a relaxed minds dream. The apartment is delightful and lovely to come back to after a hard day skiing. Relaxing on the sofas, watching TV (in whatever language is your preference) with a nice drink after exercising in cold air is blissful. The rooms are all very comfortable and there is plenty of room for skis, boots and poles downstairs and outside. Despite there being six of us staying here we never felt crowded. Thank-you"

"We have spent two weeks in Saas Fee; the first staying at the Dom Hotel, while two of our family did a British Freestyle Ski Camp – learning to turn and jump on their skis – so we went up the glacier on most days.

This week we have relaxed in this beautiful house. The views from the balcony are awesome and we have spent many hours admiring the views mostly in sunshine but occasionally in thunder and lightning! We have done lots of day trips and activities – we particularly enjoyed :-

1. The Alpine Gorge trip from Saas Fee to Saas Grund, a very exhilarating and nerve racking experience. The kids loved it – even our 7 year old

2. Day trip to Zermatt and up the Gornegrat railway

3. Day trip to the thermal baths at Brigerbad (near Brig) – a great relaxing 5 hours spent there

4. Monster scooters down from Kreuzboden (Saas Grund) 11km ride down hill with beautiful views

Ritchie Harwar (Age 9) – this house is like a 5 star hotel !"

We had a fantastic holiday. Hopefully be back soon."
